Starter Information

Welcome to the Our Lady of Lourdes Music Service. Over the past 16 years we continue to delivered instrumental and whole class music lessons to over 9000 students ranging from Years 3-13, each week.

As a Trust, music plays a huge part in our everyday life across our academies supporting masses, primary concerts, secondary events, musicals, music tours and a celebratory multi-academy concert each year.

We offer weekly group, shared and single instrumental lessons throughout the academic year, rotating or set around student timetables so the same lessons are not missed each week.

We may be able to accommodate 30-minute lessons by prior arrangement, either before, during breaks and after school.

We have a host of dynamic, inspiring teachers who can adapt to your child’s learning, enabling them to join our extensive range of ensembles and clubs from rock bands to orchestra’s, choirs and big bands each week as they progress through their musical journey.

You will sign up for 12 lessons per term. There are deadlines for signing up for lessons. If you miss the deadline, it is possible to sign up, pending teacher availability.

The deadline for signing up for lessons for September 2025 is Friday 15 August. This reopens again at the beginning of the new academic year on Tuesday 1 September 2025.

For shared and group lessons, we always do our best to accommodate parental requests. However, if we’re unable to form a group of two for a shared lesson, we provide students with a 10-minute individual lesson until the appropriate group can be arranged.

To ensure fairness and consistency in our group lesson (3 students) offerings:

  • Two students enrolled: The session will be 15 minutes.
  • One student enrolled: The session will be a single lesson, 15 minutes every two weeks.

We believe this is a better alternative than placing students on a waiting list and issuing refunds while waiting for others to sign up.

We kindly ask that all students arrive 5 minutes early to prepare their music and instruments. This helps maximize lesson time and ensures a smooth start.

This policy ensures fairness for all families, especially when paying for shared lessons, and maintains the integrity of our group instruction model.
